Can spring come soon enough? 2017 is so far known as the year that spring came by for a visit in February, before getting kicked out of the house by winter for drinking too much on the front porch.
We are excited for April, not just for the showers, but people’s minds start thinking about warm weather food – salads, peas, asparagus, and of course spring lamb. Let’s take a look at what’s going on at the shop this month to celebrate the warmer weather.
We’re going vegan for the day. Instead of meat we will only be selling tempeh carved into the shape of meat.
Passover begins. We are ready this year with lots of chicken bones to make soup, as well as chicken legs, lamb legs, and lamb shanks for your Seder table.
Blue Jays home opener. HOT DOG DAY!!!! We’ll be selling cooked hot dogs for $2 a piece to welcome the boys of summer back to town.
We’ll be having a special Easter basket promotion that weekend, when we’ll be giving away a giant basket of goodies to one lucky customer. Keep your eyes out, we’ll be sending out details closer to that weekend.
Good Friday. We are open that day, so make sure you get down to Kensington to grab your Easter weekend meats! While you’re here, grab a grilled sardine from one of the fish shop boys down the street. If sardines ain’t your thing, we’ll be featuring lovely Scotch eggs! Because nothing makes a Good Friday great like eggs encased in sausage and deep fried!
Easter Sunday. We’re closed to eat lamb, ham, and other delights with our families.
Record Store Day. A couple of years ago I got a record player and since then I’ve been frequenting some of the cities finest indie record shops. Even if you don’t have a record player, I implore you to support these businesses by buying a cd or a t-shirt once in a while. We’ll be creating some best-of lists for this day, and as always cranking the good tunes at the shop!
See you guys soon!
